Finding Flow, Clarity Quest, Responsibility to Grow
Existential Espresso Vol. Existential Espresso Vol. 91
What I’ve been reading:
Finding Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
Another reread. The original book that Csikszentmihalyi wrote outlining his theory of flow is "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience." It is a more theoretical and academic exploration of the concept.
"Finding Flow" was published 7 years later (1997), and it was written as a more accessible and more general population-friendly book. It is essentially a practical guide intended to help readers achieve the flow state in their everyday lives.
Besides the practical advice Csikszentmihalyi gives, what I especially appreciate is the emphasis he puts on finding meaning and purpose in one’s leisure activities.
What I’ve been creating (for the past month and a half):
Clarity Quest: A Free 7-Day Self-Exploration Course
Does any of the following resonate with you?
Lost and lacking a sense of direction.
Overwhelmed.
Waiting for life to become more exciting.
No idea what makes you, you.
Knowing that you are not fulfilling your potential and experiencing shame and guilt because of it.
Not knowing what is or should be guiding your major life choices.
Making plans and setting goals that you rarely follow through with.
Failing to find your own path.
Struggling to make peace with the past and be optimistic about the future.
If the answer is "yes" for one or more, then I've made the Clarity Quest precisely for you. In 7 video lessons and 7 guided introspection and journaling exercises, I will help you:
Outline your life story and start rewriting it.
Tap into your richest sources of motivation.
Discover the calling of your higher nature and find your purpose.
Organize your self-education to go from mental masturbation to actual progress.
Take control your life path into your own hands.
Build resilience for future challenges.
The course starts on Monday, July 1st. Join now to receive emails that will prepare you to get the most out of the course once it starts.
What I’ve been listening to:
OMA
OMA is a UK band that makes chill hip-hop, lofi jazz covers of (mostly) hip-hop classics that will soothe your soul like a cold lemonade on a hot summer’s day.
They have been fueling both my work and my runs over the last week.
Here are my two current favorite medleys by them:
OMA ft. Shing02: Nujabes Luv(sic) Hexalogy
Chill Hip-Hop Instrumental Mix 2
What I’ve been thinking about:
One of the surest ways to deteriorate your character is to refuse to put in the effort and gather the courage to actualize your potential.
Because you will end up seeing people who are less intelligent than you accomplish way more than you.
And that will turn you into a bitter and resentful individual.
Thank you for reading.
Stay strong, love life, and never feel sorry for yourself.
