What I’ve been reading:
Storyworthy by Matthew Dicks
I love stories. My life is full of stories. I like to believe that I’m pretty good at finding interesting stories in the mundane and the ordinary. And I like to share stories.
But I’ve just been assuming all this time that I’m good at storytelling without ever making an effort to study it as a skill. I’m not sure what made me realize how ignorant my assumption was, but I’ll be wasting no more time.
“Storyworthy” is one of the most popular books on storytelling, so I decided to start there. Hopefully, you’ll notice the results of my studying and practicing in my future essays and videos.
What I’ve been listening to:
Debating Therapy Culture & Gen Z: Abigail Shrier on the Modern Wisdom podcast
Abigail Shrier is a journalist who is raising some valid arguments about therapy doing more harm than good for young people.
I’ve been writing and talking about how I believe that we’ve made an overcorrection in the mental health space. In most developed countries, therapy went from being taboo to turning into a status symbol of sorts. That’s at least the impression we can get from social media. Everyone wants to have a diagnosis for some sort of mental disorder. So I naturally agree with a lot of what Abigail Shrier is saying.
However, she seems to be so passionate about the issue that it comes off as if her mind isn’t open to any nuance. This is where Chris, the host, did an amazing job. He challenged her and pushed back against some pretty extreme statements.
All in all, a thought-provoking, well-balanced back and forth on an important topic.

What I’ve been thinking about:
You have an obligation to always keep in mind that there is more in you than you could possibly imagine.
It’s an obligation because you are influencing far, far more than just your life by living in accordance with this truth.
Thank you for reading.
Stay strong, love life, and never feel sorry for yourself.
