I believe Da Vinci was the guy who kept his options open. He was able to gain insight in so many fields that still hold value to this day such as painting, architecture, medicine, biology and even military engineering. Nevertheless, he was never the “greatest” at any and he was known for jumping from one unfinished project to the next. However, Da Vinci was a freaking genius…

Yes, my first thought is, "Da Vinci was once in the history of humanity level of genius."

I might be oversimplifying here but you get the idea right?

I actually get you, and I for one actually admire Da Vinci because of that, his inventiveness. Which may as well be his main traits that he picked up and developed: an endless curiosity and innovation for anything he encountered, whether it lead to actually something new and great for the world or not, it lead to something new and great for him alone.

And/or also is like the article says: he may be one of the exceptions to the rule. There always are but, at what cost?

Well put! This brings to my mind Seneca’s analogy “If a man knows not which port he sails, no wind is favorable.” in the sense that one must focus on the destination to achieve the desired result.

Thank you.

That made me sad. "The last thing they want is to lead superficial lives. But they often end up doing so because their wide range of interests drags them in too many different directions." That's me and having lived on this planet for a few decades, I'm sad I haven't been able to NOT live a superficial life and my interests are all over the place and therefore cannot commit to anything. I know the cure is to pick something but the fear is always but what if it's wrong and so the cycle continues. If you had any concrete steps, I'd greatly appreciate them. Don't want the other half of my life to be flushed down the drain as well.

I'm actually trying to make a bit longer video on this. Of course, I will also try to distill it into a piece of writing, but I think this topic requires a more free-flowing discussion. One thing that I like to remind myself of is that, by choosing one door and closing all the others, you are not closing them forever. As a creative individual with multiple interests, I think you owe it to yourself to see how pursuing one of those interests more deeply plays out. Even if it ends up being a "wrong choice," what does making that wrong choice look like, and what are the things you learn along the way? Because it's not like your wrong choice is going to be pursuing a career in organized crime. So rather than the consequences of making the wrong choice destroying your life, they are more likely to be interesting and valuable lessons.I can promise you will hear me talk more about this, but here is one last message for this comment at least: The worst thing to do is to beat yourself up. We are all more or less susceptible to falling into that vicious circle of shaming ourselves, feeling inadequate because of that, and then being even more discouraged from making any constructive life choices. Remember that the situation you describe is something that many of us can relate to. We are all figuring this life out as we go.

Yeah David, this is a good one. You can have as many options as you like, but you don't get more life to play them all. Choose wisely and stick with it.

Let's talk about your artwork. Love the drawings. Crime-scenish but they do the job. Great read btw
